The Final Exam (FE) is taken by candidates on the completion of qualifications either in lower (two-year) or secondary (three-year) vocational education. If they pass the FE, candidates acquire the vocational education of the school that they attended.

Qualifications and subject specifications for Slovene, Hungarian and Italian are published on the website of the Ministry of Education, while exam specifications for practical exams (a product or service with defence) are published on the website of the National Institute for Vocational Education and Training.

In the FE, candidates demonstrate the theoretical and practical knowledge and skills acquired during schooling and as stipulated by the exam specifications, thus proving that they are qualified for the occupation they have chosen.

Candidates who pass the FE can seek employment or continue their education.
